A new BGA socket design uses high-performance elastomer capable of 75 GHz bandwidth to give a low inductance and handle wide temperature applications. The GTL-BGA-6007 socket from Ironwood Electronics is designed for a 35×35-mm package size and gives less than 1 dB of insertion loss. The contact resistance is typically 30 milliohms/pin. The socket is mounted on the target PCB with no soldering and uses only a small amount of real estate allowing capacitors/resistors to sit close by. Other passive components can be placed on the back side of PCB by creating custom cutouts in the stiffener plate. The socket is constructed with an open top lid which allows access to the center of the device.
The GTL-BGA-6007 socket is constructed with a high-performance and low-inductance elastomer contactor. The temperature range is -55 to +160°C. It works with ICs such as BGA, 35×35 mm with 34×34 array and 1-mm pitch.
Pricing for the GTL-BGA-6007 is $3,808 at qty 1; reduced pricing is available depending on the quantity.
