Output drives input in switcher IC
Seventeen years after the first One Watt Initiative was announced, the bar continues to rise for lower standby power. “Really important standby power numbers are dropping,” said Director of Training at Power Integrations Andrew Smith, “but like in the past technology, is moving ahead standards bodies.” The company’s new LinkSwitch-TN2 is designed to meet that need boasting high efficiency for low-power applications — above 80% in 12 V, 120 mA (1.4W) buck designs, for example. The high level of accuracy in the switcher IC better than -/+ 3% improving regulation so that no additional regulator is necessary.
