To operate, the gesture control system uses 3D sensors that are placed in the car’s center stack. By making one of the predetermined movements, the driver is able to do a whole mess of things like turn the stereo volume up or answer a phone call. Other customizable gestures can be programmed into the system, which will be made standard in all of the 2016 7 Series models. Made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, aluminum and steel, the 2016 edition will be 190 pounds lighter and one inch longer than the previous version. In the U.S., the vehicle will be offered in three models, the 740i, 750i xDrive, and the plug-in hybrid 740e xDrive.
