ActiveVideo, which provides “cloud”-based services in networks, has a new agreement in place with Blockbuster and an expanded relationship with Tag Networks.
With ActiveVideo, Blockbuster will enhance the consumer VOD and EST experience of Blockbuster’s on-demand movie service across multiple connected platforms.
The agreement combines Blockbuster digital assets with the ability of ActiveVideo to process Web-based user interfaces in the network cloud. Viewers will be able to search, find and view titles of interest by incorporating previews and trailers, as well as Web-based search and recommendation capabilities.
The Blockbuster user interface (UI) being developed by ActiveVideo can serve as a gateway to Blockbuster’s on-demand services that are currently being deployed.
ActiveVideo’s expanded relationship with Tag Networks was designed to extend enhanced gaming experiences to broadband-connected consumer electronics devices.
The combined platform, which leverages Tag Networks’ scalability with ActiveVideo’s ability to deliver Web-based content as a single MPEG stream, brings brand-name games to any connected device or digital set-top box.
The platform is being demonstrated at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
