Alcatel-Lucent announced several hardware and software enhancements for the routers at the heart of its Triple-Play Service Delivery Architecture (TPSDA) intended to pave the way for new multimedia services.
The hardware and software enhancements to the Alcatel-Lucent Service Router Portfolio include an Application Assurance-Integrated Services Adaptor (AA-ISA), which enables fine-grain application policy enforcement with per-subscriber resolution.
Another enhancement is the High-Scale Media Dependent Adaptor (HS-MDA), which provides for more granular queuing and traffic management. More granular queuing, the company explained, enables more fine-grain service control to ensure that each service is delivered with the appropriate Quality of Experience (QoE) and uses network resources in the most efficient manner.
Alcatel also introduced its 5670 Reporting and Analysis Manager (RAM), which provides tools and capabilities to warehouse, aggregate and process detailed, application-level statistics per-subscriber.
With the enhancements, Alcatel said, service providers can enable consumers and business partners to choose the QoE they want, for the content they care about and at a price they are prepared to pay.
