Amdocs announced two big projects: one with CenturyLink, which will consolidate all of its operational support systems (OSS) on Amdocs products, and the other with Telefónica Argentina, which will employ Amdocs’ business support systems (BSS) to back its wireless broadband service.
For CenturyLink, Amdocs will provide a solution, based on a single inventory repository, that provides an automated, scalable platform for planning and managing services. The OSS platform will enable CenturyLink to automate service fulfillment.
Bill Bradley, chief information officer at CenturyLink, said, “As we look to grow our network business, we will leverage Amdocs’ experience in delivering automated and scalable OSS solutions to quickly achieve a consolidated OSS platform. Not only will this enable CenturyLink to launch future products more rapidly, but it will also reduce costs and shorten the order-to-cash cycle.”
Telefónica Argentina, which has 16.7 million wireless Movistar subscribers, is looking to simplify and standardize its business processes with a selection of Amdocs’ BSS products.
“Our strategic goal in Telefónica is to accelerate our business transformation toward becoming an online company as mobile devices become a more important part of our customers’ work and personal lives,” said Horacio Goldenberg, chief information officer at Telefónica Argentina. “We selected Amdocs as part of our global reference architecture and as our primary strategic partner in Argentina because of their proven track record of success in managing large-scale projects throughout Latin America.”
Amdocs said this is its first project with the Telefónica group in Latin America, though it has been working with several Telefónica sister companies in Europe.
Separately, the vendor announced the launch of Amdocs BSS Advance and Amdocs Business Building Blocks.
Business Building Blocks is a catalog of tested, integrated use-case scenarios, designed to work in conjunction with Amdocs BSS Advance, that service providers can deploy to speed new services to market.
The building blocks include solutions from Amdocs’ CES solution portfolio, including Convergent Charging & Rating, Billing & Financials, Resource Management, and Customer Management & Ordering. Amdocs said the suite is fully integrated.
A new embedded integration and implementation layer and “best practice” product model enables deployment of multiple business processes and use cases, resulting in faster time to market for new products and services, the company said.
Add-ons from Amdocs’ BSS offering can also be integrated to manage the complete customer experience from the device to the network, the company said. These include Amdocs Policy, Multi-Channel Self-Service and Proactive Care.
