Washington (MarketWatch) — Amdocs Ltd. (dox) has won a multimillion-dollar contract to support Project Lightspeed, the initiative launched by SBC Communications (sbc) to deliver Internet Protocol-based TV, voice-telephone and broadband services via fiber-optic networks.
Under the multi-year deal, Amdocs will provide a variety of services, including billing, customer relationship management, ordering, payment mediation, and systems integration. SBC’s plans for the $4 billion Project Lightspeed call for reaching 18 million households, as part of its initial deployment, by the end of 2007.
Shares of Amdocs rose 56 cents, or 2.1%, to end Tuesday’s trading at $27.53, while Dow Industrials component SBC added 2 cents to $23.80.
