The American Airlines Center in Dallas is the latest arena to get wired for the vast amounts of gameday traffic generated by people in the stands using social media and watching replays on their smartphones. The arena contracted with AT&T for the network.
AT&T has installed a new Wi-Fi network at the 21,000-plus seat facility with more than 315 new AT&T Wi-Fi access points. The company is using Aruba Networks’ APs and Aruba’s Mobility Controllers.
The Wi-Fi network complements an existing 4G LTE-capable DAS network at the venue installed in December 2012.
AT&T customers with a Wi-Fi enabled AT&T smartphone or tablet can connect through an auto-authentication process to the Wi-Fi network – no setup or log-in required.
Fans with a compatible Wi-Fi enabled smartphone or tablet can connect to the AT&T network through a log-in.
The Wi-Fi service is complimentary. Wi-Fi data usage does not count toward AT&T users’ monthly data plans.
“We strive to provide everyone who walks through the doors of American Airlines Center with a once in a lifetime experience,” said Lori Glasser-Seinera, vice president, corporate sponsorship at American Airlines Center. “AT&T Wi-Fi enables our customers to share those memories on their social networks seamlessly.”
AT&T will manage the Wi-Fi network inside the American Airlines Center and provide customer support around the clock to help ensure continuous high quality of service.
