Amino Communications and Minerva Networks are working on a fiber-to-the-home deployment in Salisbury, N.C., that will provision IPTV services in the area.
The city of Salisbury is targeting 10,000 subscribers for its new service as part of a program to deliver advanced high-speed broadband access, entertainment services and local content to the local community under the brand name “Fibrant.”
For the first time in the North American market, Amino will supply its new A140 and A540 PVR set-top boxes based on the latest STi7105 system-on-a-chip (SoC) offerings. Amino is partnering with Minerva on the deployment, which is currently underway.
“Fiber-to-the-home defines a community just as good water, power and transportation has in the past,” said city of Salisbury sales and marketing manager Len Clark. “Our city can now compete in a global economy and also benefit from enhanced entertainment and community services. Amino’s products are aligned with our vision and provide the leading-edge capability, functionality and performance our customers expect.”
