Amlogic, a provider of System-on-Chip (SOC) for video streaming and smart home devices, has collaborated with Ericsson Media Solutions to make the vendor’s MediaFirst middleware platform available through its chipset.
Ericsson said its end-to-end MediaFirst TV platform enables cost-effective creation, management and delivery of next-generation pay TV services.
With the integration of Amlogic’s S905X chipset solutions, consumers can quickly access content including HDR content, across MediaFirst set-top boxes, the companies said. Operators can also offer customers increased content options and more personalized user experiences.
Integration of Amlogic’s chipset, which is operational in OTT and IP delivery scenarios, with the MediaFirst middleware aims to bring operators more choice and flexibility.
“The S905X chipset is ideally designed to meet operators’ requirements and to enable a high-quality user experience with MediaFirst.” James Xie, VP of corporate business strategy at Amlogic, said in a statement. “MediaFirst takes full advantage of our SOC capabilities to deliver a seamless TV experience to operators at price points not possible using current solutions.”
Ericsson’s platform uses a cloud-based architecture to help operators and content providers deliver personalized and user-friendly TV experiences to consumers anytime, across any device. The solution also touts advanced security features to keep high value content securely managed.
“Amlogic chipsets deliver an excellent user experience across all MediaFirst use cases, including Pay TV in-home and OTT services,” Marc Stauffacher, head of solution area TV platforms at Ericsson Media Solutions, said. “By pre-integrating the MediaFirst TV Platform client with Amlogic we are adding more choice and value to Ericsson Media Solutions’ holistic MediaFirst ecosystem, enabling our global partner operators to rapidly go to market.”
The solution will be demoed next month at the NAB Show in Las Vegas.
