The details about Google TV continue to be vague, but another company is joining Sony, Logitech and Dish Network in making a Google TV device: It’s Slovakian box maker Antik.
Google TV is software based on Google’s Android operating system (the same OS that runs several smartphones that run on the networks of Verizon, Sprint and others). The software allows any device incorporating it to present a search portal that combines Web-based content with content available through a viewer’s TV service. Google is promising Google TV devices will first become available sometime in the fall.
Sony plans to build the capability directly into TV sets, along with a Blu-ray player. Logitech is building a separate box that can plug into a TV through an HDMI connection; that box will also interface with some home entertainment systems. Dish is also developing what it says will be a separate Google TV device that works with its DVRs.

Viewers will be able to use their Android smartphones as a remote control for Google TV boxes.
Antik is building Google TV into its Juice Pro FullHD IPTV set-top boxes and said it plans to finish the integration of Google TV by the end of this year so that the service is prepared for 2011, when Google TV is expected to launch in Europe.
Igor Kolla, CEO of Antik Technology, said, “Google TV can further expand the current multimedia capabilities of our FullHD Juice set-top boxes, which serve as a home entertainment centre with DualTV support.”
