Apple TV users will soon have to keep track of one less device in their house.
In a podcast interview with John Gruber, Apple Senior Vice President of Software and Services Eddy Cue and Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi said a new update for the existing Remote app on iOS will bring full Apple TV remote capabilities to the iPhone.
According to Cue and Federighi, the update will include the remote’s ability to give voice commands to Siri and function as a game controller.
“The new Remote app will do all of the capabilities that the existing, new Apple TV remote does, like Siri,” Cue said during the interview.
A release date for the update was not provided.
