Apple today said it will close its Quattro Wireless mobile ad network.
According to a post from Apple on Quattro’s website this morning, Apple will be deferring to its newly created iAd network.
“We believe iAd is the best mobile ad network in the world, and starting next month, we’re going to focus all of our resources on the iAd advertising platform,” the posting read.
Apple is no longer accepting new campaigns for Quattro and will soon begin winding down existing campaigns. The company said that as of Sept. 30, it will only support ads for the iAd network.
Apple acquired Quattro in January of this year. The acquisition followed closely on the heels of Google’s acquisition of AdMob in November 2009.
