Apple said it will delay its second quarter earnings report by one day to allow employees to attend the memorial of Bill Campbell, a former Apple board member and adviser to Apple CEOs Steve Jobs and Tim Cook.
The earnings report was originally scheduled for Monday, April 25, but will now be held Tuesday, April 26. Apple said it is making the change “out of respect for the friends and family of Bill Campbell, whose memorial service will be held Monday.” The company said Apple executives and employees will attend the service “to remember Bill and his many years of friendship and service to the Apple community.”
Campbell, 75, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, April 18. According to the New York Times, Campbell was an Apple board member from 1997 to 2014.
Apple’s earnings will again be a source of interest as the tech giant fights to maintain profits in the wake of slumping iPhone sales.
In January, Apple braced for its first sales decline in 13 years and warned revenue could fall more than 8 percent year-over-year during the January to March quarter.
A Zacks Consensus Estimate has forecast Apple’s earnings per share for the quarter will come in at $1.97.
