ARRIS will hawk fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) gear after striking a reseller and technology development deal with Amedia Networks Inc.
Under the deal, ARRIS will market Amedia’s line of “QoStream” Ethernet optical access network gear to operators worldwide.
Amedia came on the scene last year with an “active” FTTP platform capable of delivering up to 100 Mbps of symmetrical bandwidth per subscriber. Amedia entered the sector via a $250,000 licensing deal with Lucent Bell Labs, which originally developed the technology.
Amedia’s QoStream Premises Gateway is designed to support multiple Ethernet ports and VoIP services. It can also support an optional Wi-Fi access point.
