Arris announced last week it deployed an enterprise-grade WiFi network for its partner, Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), at the team’s worldwide headquarters in Huntersville, NC.
“We selected Arris to build a new, high-speed WiFi network that’s up to 15 times faster than our current network, to meet the needs of our growing racing team. Joe Gibbs Racing invests in the best technology and innovation, and we’ve expanded our partnership with Arris to ensure that we’re ahead of the curve both at the shop as well as on the track,” Jim Foley, CTO at JGR, says. “WiFi is a critical component in our everyday operations, including the production of our racecars.”
This new installation is an expansion of the JGR and Arris’ racing team and sponsor partnership. Arris also sponsors Carl Edwards in the No. 19 Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Daniel Suarez in the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series in the No. 19 Toyota Camry, as well as a partial schedule in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
“The team at JGR knows speed, so they appreciate the fast and reliable performance that Arris brings to wireless collaboration and communication. This project is an extension of our industry-leading work in enterprise-grade WiFi deployments across the country and demonstrates our ability to customize and integrate a WiFi solution for any environment,” Dan Whalen, SVP and GM, global services at Arris says.
Last year, Arris Global Services installed and managed new Internet services connecting NASCAR Productions to race teams on the track in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The Arris E6000 converged edge router powered communications to SURFboard SB6183 modems provided to each team. Earlier this year, Arris offered carrier-Class WiFi to fan locations at the new Daytona International Speedway (DIS) motorsports stadium — which was reportedly the most comprehensive WiFi deployment in NASCAR history.
