As part of a $400 million redevelopment project that will bring Daytona International Speedway into the 21st century, Arris is bringing high-speed internet to NASCAR fans at the sport’s most hallowed track.
The project is centered on improving fan experience at Daytona, largely through making more comfortable seats, more concession stands and more restrooms. However, an integral part of the redevelopment is Arris’ Wi-Fi solution, which will allow fans to log into Wi-Fi networks all over the speedway by 2016.
“In our ever-connected world, consumers expect to be able to interact with their social circles and share their experiences in real-time from anywhere, and we are certainly seeing the same in motorsports,” said Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III in a statement. “Bringing an unprecedented level of connectivity to DIS and motorsports in general was a non-negotiable when we began Daytona Rising, and we’re excited to work with ARRIS to help us accomplish this goal.”
As a part of the Wi-Fi network experience, Daytona is also rolling out a mobile app that will include facility maps, GPS tracking, schedules and other features.
