Artesian Direct picked Pace Micro Technology to provide the DSL4000 digital home gateway boxes for Artesian’s Convenient Accessible Print Solution. The product will combine Pace’s digital home gateway technology and the H-P print media, letting consumers print TV or PC content through the DSL4000 to the H-P printer, Artesian reports.
Pace’s gateway lets telecom companies deliver video and interactive services over copper wires. The product uses MPEG-2 decoding, an Ethernet interface and support for Java.
So far, customers include Grant County’s public utilities department in Washington state, with more than 7,000 miles of fiber-optic cable installed and plans for 40,000 more miles. At its 2006 buildout, the cable should reach 40,000 homes. The Pace boxes will be used, Artesian notes.
