The shows will go on now that AT&T has signed a carriage agreement with Cablevision-owned Rainbow Media.
The two sides reached an agreement yesterday afternoon after a bitter exchange of press releases by AT&T and Rainbow Media that accused each other of taking away shows from Rainbow’s AMC, We TV and IFC. Financial terms of the agreement weren’t released.
“We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with AT&T for AMC, We TV, IFC and Sundance Channel that truly recognizes the value of our networks,” Rainbow Media said. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with AT&T and are excited to continue to bring their subscribers our award-winning programming, including the new season of AMC’s ‘Mad Men’ on Sunday, July 25.”
The previous agreement had expired at midnight on Wednesday, but the two sides continued negotiations yesterday until the new accord was reached. While both sides accused the other of threatening to remove the shows from AT&T’s lineup, the Rainbow broadcasters stayed on the air.
We are happy to report that AMC, IFC and We TV will remain on AT&T U-verse TV,” AT&T said. “We’re very satisfied that we were able to reach the fair deal we wanted for our customers – one that includes the right content, across platforms, at prices that are in line with the marketplace and that helps us with important strategic content initiatives. We are very grateful to our customers for their support.”
