Atlantic Broadband has deployed 1 Gbps internet service in Miami Beach and surrounding areas.
Residential and business customers can now receive GigaEdge and Pro GigaEdge internet services, respectively, in areas including; Aventura; Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands; Brickell; the Biscayne corridor; Golden Beach; North Bay Village; Pinecrest; South Miami; Sunny Isles Beach; Surfside; Wynwood; and downtown Miami.
The operator says top speeds will increase from 250 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, to 1 Gbps down and 50 Mbps up, enabling customers to download a two-hour HD movie in just over 30 seconds, or send a 250 MB file in 40 seconds.
Gigabit internet service allows multiple users to be connected on a number of devices at the same time without interruptions, Atlantic says.
“With the much-anticipated launch of GigaEdge and Pro GigaEdge, we continue to enhance our position as South Florida’s premier communications provider, delivering unbelievably fast Gigabit internet speeds, the most complete entertainment, and the best hands-on local service available to the communities we serve,” Elizabeth Michelsen, vice president and general manager of Atlantic Broadband in South Florida, comments.
Michelsen adds that with the latest launch, Atlantic also celebrates completing the final phase of its $6.3 million FastForward Miami initiative.
The investment, which started in 2016 also provided more HD channels, new Spanish-language and international channels, better digital picture quality and sound, and enhanced reliability across the network, according to Michelsen.
New residential customers can get Atlantic’s gigabit internet service at promotional pricing starting at $89.99 per month, while new business customers can get the service for just under $200 per month, with a 3-year contract.
