AT&T’s ultra-fast U-Verse GigaPower internet service has expanded into new areas in four major cities, the company announced Tuesday.
The service, which offers speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second, will now be available in select sections of Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta and Miami.
Market areas included in Tuesday’s launch include Sugar Grove and Plano in Chicago; Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Lakeside and Little Elm in Dallas; Buford, Jonesboro, Roswell, Sugar Hill and Suwanee in Atlanta; and Cooper City, Miramar, Pembroke Pines and Miami Lakes in Miami, among others.
The expansion means GigaPower service is now available in 20 of the nation’s biggest metropolitan areas. AT&T said it has plans to expand to an additional 36 metro areas.
AT&T’s GigaPower was first launched in 2013 in Austin, Texas as a 300 mbps service before it was upgraded to a 1 gigabit service the following year.
