AT&T is now offering Atlanta area businesses a symmetrical 300 Mbps tier ahead of future plans to ramp the speeds up to 1 gigabit.
The AT&T Business Fiber deployment followed on the heels of AT&T’s October announcement that it would launch its residential GigaPower service to the Atlanta area it serves. The Georgia launches for GigaPower will include the cities of Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Decatur and Newnan. AT&T said Business Fiber wasn’t available in all of the buildings in the Atlanta area it serves.
Atlanta is the latest market to launch Business Fiber, joining Austin, Texas; Chicago; Cleveland; Dallas; Detroit; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston; Indianapolis; Kansas City, Kan; Kansas City, Mo.; Miami; Orlando, Fla.; Sacramento, Calif.; San Antonio; San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; and St. Louis.
AT&T said the no-contract service supports business critical applications such as video conferencing, working in the cloud and disaster recovery. It also comes equipped with network security options and online backup.
The Business Fiber launch mirrored AT&T’s first GigaPower roll out in Austin late last year that started out at 300 Mbps before bumping up subscribers to 1-Gig in the summer and fall. AT&T previously said that GigaPower would lift off in Atlanta at 1-gigabit instead of transitioning from 300 Mbps.
Charter Communications and Comcast also serve areas of Atlanta.
