AT&T customers in parts of Tulsa, Okla., will now have access to ultra-fast internet speeds through a 1 Gbps connection, the provider announced Thursday. The locations include parts of Tulsa, Jenks, Owasso, and surrounding communities.
The latest rollout brings the number of metro areas with AT&T’s 1 Gbps service to 55. The company says it plans to reach at least 12.5 million locations across 75 metros by mid-2019.
With a 1 Gbps connection users can download 25 songs in one second or a 90-minute HD movie in under 34 seconds, AT&T says.
“High-speed internet has quickly become a preferred way to access information and communicate,” Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum says in a statement. “I’m glad to see this investment from AT&T, and am certain that the increased ability to tout Tulsa’s connectivity to fiber internet further strengthens the reputation of our community.”
In April, the provider continued its 1 Gbps expansion by rolling out service to customers in the East Bay area of the San Francisco metro area. More on that here.
