Three AT&T executives are set to take on new roles as the carrier merges with entertainment giant Time Warner, the carrier revealed.
As of August 1, AT&T said current Chief Marketing Officer and former lead of AT&T’s Time Warner merger integration planning team Lori Lee will assume a position at the head of the operator’s International business. In that role, she will oversee the provision of mobile services to more than 13 million consumers and businesses in Mexico, and pay-TV service to more than 13 million subscribers across 11 countries and territories in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Current Entertainment Group head John Stankey will step into Lee’s shoes at the helm of the merger integration team, working with Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes to ensure a smooth transition. Stankey will become CEO of AT&T’s media company once the merger is complete.
John Donovan, AT&T’s chief strategy officer and group president of AT&T Technology and Operations, is also making a move to CEO of AT&T Communications. In that role, he will oversee AT&T’s Business Solutions, Entertainment Group, and Technology & Operations groups, which serve mobile, broadband, and video services to U.S-based consumers and nearly 3.5 million businesses.
All three will report to AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson.
In a statement, Stephenson said the company is looking “forward to completing the deal and delivering for customers the many benefits of this merger.”
The deal is currently being reviewed by the Department of Justice and a handful of competition authorities abroad.
Last week, Bloomberg reported AT&T has begun talks with DOJ officials about potential conditions that would help move the merger along amid pressure on the department to block the deal. More on resistance to the merger here and here.
