AT&T reported this week it would bring its nationwide metro count of gigabit deployments up to 51 by the end of February. Ultimately, it says it plans to eventually reach at least 67 metros with the ultra high-speed service. The company rolled it out in Milwaukee this week, and on Tuesday, it revealed it’s also offering the gigabit service in Columbia, S.C., including parts of Richland County and surrounding communities.
“In addition to the homes and small businesses connected to our 100 percent fiber network in the Columbia area, we also offer an ultra-fast connection to residents at 15 area apartment and condo properties,” AT&T says in a statement.
Internet-only pricing for customers who choose AT&T Internet 1000 starts at $80 a month with a 12-month commitment.
“AT&T is committed to extending ultra-fast internet access in the greater Columbia area because our customers are increasingly interacting with their world in more data-intensive ways,” Ted Creech, director of external affairs for AT&T South Carolina, says. “A growing number of people are streaming content directly from their devices, transferring larger files for work, and interacting with family and friends through live videos. For these reasons, we are proud to now offer our fastest internet speeds in Columbia and its surrounding communities.”
