Aurora adds Web-based remote monitoring to management toolbox

Aurora Networks announced today that it has added Web-based monitoring to its management tools.

The new monitoring tool, which is called the CX3002 Network Management Module, gives cable engineers and technicians the ability to use the Internet Explorer or Firefox Web browsers to configure and monitor modules in the company’s CH3000 Chassis from any location. The Web-based management support can also be used on hand-held devices such as iPhones.

“The CX3002 expands the monitoring horizon from simple desktop PCs to Web-enabled handhelds,” said John Dahlquist, VP of marketing for Aurora Networks. “The ability to proactively and remotely manage faults on-the-go is essential in today’s fast-paced, customer-service focused environment.”

The CX3002 mounts directly in any power supply module, eliminating the need for a dedicated slot in the CH3000 Chassis. It features two 10BaseT ports. The first interfaces with Aurora’s Opti-Trace management software. Operators can use the second port to daisy-chain additional CX3002 modules to support monitoring of multiple chasses per site, reducing the need for external hubs.
