Belden continued its expansion into the broadband space with an acquisition of privately held PPC for $515.7 million.
For the last few years, Belden has been expanding out of its origins in broadcast equipment into other areas of the communications market. In 2007, it bought Telecast Fiber Systems, and in 2011 purchased ICM Corp. Belden bought Miranda Technologies in July for about $330 million. The Telecast operation has since been merged into Miranda.
PPC reported 2012 revenues of approximately $238 million. The company is known in the cable satellite and wireless markets for its F-connectors, amplifiers, splitters, traps, filters and coaxial cable, among other products. Belden said PPC’s portfolio will significantly enhance its Broadcast Solutions platform and increase exposure to attractive end markets.
John Stroup, president and CEO of Belden, said, “PPC provides innovative products that enable our customers to profitably grow their business by delivering higher-bandwidth and enhanced services, with fewer service calls.”
