Blankom USA introduced several new QAMs, including a compact edge QAM engineered to take minimal space in street cabinets.
Blankom’s EQM008 Edge QAM measures 7 inches x 4 inches x 1.5 inches and delivers up to eight 6 MHz QAM channels. The small form factor makes it appropriate for installations such as private communities, campus networks, test lab installations, etc., the company said.
Blankom is also releasing its EQM8000 96 channel modular edge QAM system, which packages up to twelve EQM008 into a four rack-unit chassis with redundant power supplies. The EQM8000 features hot-swap capability, plug-in installation from the front and an integrated SNMP module, and it comes prepackaged with a GigE switch, which Blankom said will allow system operators to deploy an N+1 redundant edge QAM configuration.
Combining the new product with Blankom’s line of receiver products, which all feature IP outputs, Blankom provides a video over IP solution that can be easily implemented directly from local HFC plant, the company said.
