iPark was created by Inrix, whose software for finding public parking garages is already in place in cars made by BMW, Audi and Lexus. It uses data from surrounding fleet vehicles, smartphone apps, other probe vehicles and historical data modeling to determine which roads and blocks have the most crowded parking spaces. It isn’t available everywhere: the first cities for which data will be available are Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Cologne and Copenhagen. More are expected to be added by the end of 2015. BMW has not yet announced what model will receive the feature first.

iPark, a feature which helps drivers find on-street parking, will be integrated into BMW’s navigation systems in future models.
Traffic and parking data company Inrix announced today that it will enable an on-street parking feature in BMW cars.
