New York City residents are getting free Wi-Fi access from Boingo Wireless through a deal sponsored by Google Offers.
Mobile users will have access to Boingo’s Wi-Fi networks from June 25 through Sept. 7, the company announced.
Starting today, people can access Wi-Fi hotspots for free in select New York City subway stations and at Boingo hotspots across Manhattan, courtesy of Google Offers.
“We’re excited to bring free Wi-Fi to subway stations and Boingo hotspots in Manhattan. People can surf the Internet, or discover great local deals from Google Offers, while they’re waiting at the subway platform or enjoying summer in the Big Apple,” said Cliff Hopkins, Google Offers’ director of marketing.
New Yorkers using the complimentary Wi-Fi services can check out deals from local businesses from Google Offers when they connect at Boingo hotspots throughout the city and at a number of subway stations with wireless networks deployed by Transit Wireless.
Through its partnership with Transit Wireless, Boingo Wi-Fi will be available in 36 New York subway stations by the end of the year, including Times Square, Rockefeller Center and Columbus Circle.
Boingo said it aims to offer Wi-Fi on all 270-plus New York subway stations within the next five years.
