Bresnan Communications has deployed Juniper Networks’ edge routers as part of an upgrade for its MPLS network.
Bresnan, which will become a standalone subsidiary of Cablevision, is using Juniper’s MX480 universal edge routers in combination with its Junos Software to scale and mange traffic.
“The combination of Juniper’s MPLS features and the opportunity for future growth with the MX Series is why we selected Juniper for our customer-focused business,” said Pragash Pillai, senior vice president of engineering and technology at Bresnan Communications.
The MPLS platform is a multi-service network that will be used to deliver Layer 2 and Layer 3 services that include Internet, video and VoIP, as well as MPLS-enabled VPN services such as VPLS and Layer 3 VPN.
In addition to the MX Series, Juniper’s SRX Series Services Gateways are enabling Bresnan to integrate Junos-based security at scale for its growing network infrastructure.
Bresnan is also using the Juniper Networks Professional Services team to develop the design and topology of the network and create methods of procedures and configurations for five sites, including core sites in Missoula and Billings, Mont. This design work served as the genesis for the next-generation network.
Bresnan serves more than 320,000 subscribers in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. Bresnan’s master headend is located in Billings, and it has previously said it will start offering customers DOCSIS 3.0-based services later this year.
