At INTX in Boston May 16-18, Alticast will showcase how its middleware and UI enablement has helped Videtron become the first pay TV operator in Canada to deploy a 4K ultra HD set-top on a commercial basis across an entire market area. Also, Alticast is highlighting its AltiView 3 user interface and other solutions that reportedly can provide operators with search, discovery and navigation across linear, on-demand, online and the subscriber’s personal content — providing user experiences that are said to equal or exceed those that are available on the Web.
Also at INTX, Alticast will demo how its products and services have enabled an APAC operator to deploy a full-integrated platform that includes network DVR, IP-to-tablet delivery and other services. Additionally, it will show how it allowed Korea’s KT Skylife to deploy the Alticast AltiView 2 solution allowing an extension of services including multi-picture-in-picture mosaic, an integrated YouTube Leanback application, and a DVR functionality set.
The National Cable & Telecommunications Association announced that its INTX show in Boston next week has more than 190 exhibitors and 220 speakers. For the future-minded, there’s Imagine Park on the show floor that will feature a live events stage covering the likes of experiential sports, virtual reality, ultra HD/4K, big data and analytics and more. Featured on Imagine Park’s stage will be MIT Media Lab’s Andrew Lippman who will demo and share details about some of the latest projects at the MIT Media Lab on Mon., May 16 at 12:15 p.m.
ZCorum has released version 3.0 of its Upstream Analyzer software. Upstream Analyzer uses technology from Nimble This and CableLabs to collect and display the upstream spectrum data directly from the CMTS, according to the company. The 3.0 release adds a monitor feature that records the upstream spectrum, allowing an operator to look back in time for ingress in the return path, rather than having to actively watch the analyzer for bursts of noise, ZCorum reports.
“Our customers love having the ability to look at their upstream spectrum in real-time from anywhere they are,” Rick Yuzzi, the company’s VP of marketing, says. “Now they can click a play button and see what the noise level on the upstream looked like in the past. That’s a great feature, because ingress is often intermittent and can be hard to catch right when it’s happening.”
ZCorum offers Upstream Analyzer in a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, eliminating the need for a hardware-based analyzer or monitoring equipment in the headend. “All you need is your CMTS, so it’s very affordable. Plus, any number of technicians can access the analyzer, and spectrum can be viewed from any location on a PC or laptop,” Yuzzi adds.
