Arris revealed some of its plans for next week’s INTX show in Boston, where the company will preview additions to its DOCSIS 3.1 portfolio. Last year, the company introduced the Touchstone CM8200 and its retail counterpart, the SURFboard SB8200 cable modem. “They marked the beginning of a new era of multi-gigabit CPE — delivering unprecedented data rates of more than 5 Gbps downstream and 2 Gbps upstream,” Arris reports. “When we introduced them, we promised to expand the portfolio with new DOCSIS 3.1 devices in 2016. And at INTX, we’re making good on that promise by showcasing three additions.”
On display will be new Touchstone TG3462 and Touchstone TG3472 telephony gateways that reportedly offer video-grade WiFi performance. Arris says they also support personal area networks — like ZigBee, Thread, and BLE. Also showcased will be the TM3402 eMTA modem that is said to offer operators a modular option for bringing DOCSIS 3.1 and multi-gigabit speeds into the home.
Imagine Communications says it will be demonstrating advanced advertising monetization, management and distribution portfolios targeted at video service providers at INTX May 16-18. “By complementing our state-of-the-art and comprehensive OTT delivery platform with dynamic ad insertion capabilities that work across linear, VOD and cloud DVR environments and that integrate seamlessly with our advanced business process management tools, Imagine Communications is providing content distributors with one of the industry’s most comprehensive multiscreen technology platforms for building next-generation video delivery and revenue-enablement infrastructures,” the company’s CTO Steve Reynolds, reports.
Imagine is introducing an initiative that it says is “designed to assist video service providers and other content distributors in expanding their prominence in the media and entertainment industry value chain.” The center of that is the Selenio Video Delivery Edge (VDE), an HTTP-to-UDP gateway that reportedly creates the opportunity for service providers to reduce costs and the complexity of their networks by bridging next-generation and legacy video delivery infrastructures.
Imagine reports that Selenio One is a unified software-based transcoding platform designed to empower today’s service providers and content distributors with the ability to control, manage, scale and evolve current and future compression operations and capabilities across multiple target applications. Selenio One, which made its debut at the 2016 NAB Show, is reportedly based on a modular software architecture that continuously adapts to new business requirements and provides media companies with the potential to consolidate all of their compression capabilities into a single, future-proof platform.
Also at INTX will be the company’s SelenioFlex File media processing solution, which blends transcoding and workflow capabilities to support a comprehensive range of formats. The file-to-file processing platform is said to offer superior quality for post-production, archive and multiscreen distribution applications. The latest release of SelenioFlex File includes support for Apple ProRes, HEVC UHD Main 10 and Interoperable Master Format (IMF) file-based transcoding to enable UHD on-demand workflows.
Imagine Communications will also highlight its comprehensive advertising management systems, which it says span the entire revenue-enablement workflow — from proposal through fulfillment — to deliver service providers a single, integrated solution designed to improve the precision of ad targeting and maximize the value of their ad inventories. The xG AIM manifest manipulator is a multiplatform ad insertion and decision solution designed to assist service providers in creating new opportunities for advertisers to engage with viewers. Imagine Communications’ ad insertion ecosystem was recently augmented with the addition of Placement Opportunity Information Service (POIS), Ad Decision Router (ADS) and Ad Decision Service (ADS) functionality.
Additionally, the company will showcase its CloudXtream OTT delivery platform. It is said to deliver a flexible and comprehensive portfolio of software-based, high-quality, fully integrated multiscreen distribution and live ABR encoding solutions for delivering live, linear, on-demand and cloud DVR solutions — all supported by the company’s dynamic ad insertion capabilities.
