AT&T’s AUDIENCE Network will debut a new slate of original and exclusive performances every week, starting this month. AUDIENCE will give music fans an intimate and unrestricted view of music’s most influential artists today, along with original content and the chance to hear their behind-the-evolution stories.
Programming will be filmed in ultra high definition 4K and will include exclusive concerts, music documentaries, inside tracks, At Guitar Center and Ernie Ball presents The Pursuit of Tone. Artists scheduled to appear include Jason Derulo, Hank Williams Jr. and Peter Frampton.
DIRECTV and U-verse customers can watch the new music programming and the rest of AUDIENCE Network on U-verse Channel 1114 and DIRECTV Channel 239. They can also live stream it on the DIRECTV App and U-verse App for smartphones and tablets, directv.com and uverse.com.
Valve, a global online gaming company, is working with Level 3 Communications to upgrade its network infrastructure to include 100 Gigabits per second (Gbps) Internet Service ports. The upgrade is in response to the substantial rise in popularity of digital services and online games provided by Steam, Valve’s social entertainment and gaming platform. The new ports will give Valve the bandwidth necessary to continue providing an optimal experience as Steam’s audience size and usage expands.
Level 3’s network of 100 Gbps Internet ports is currently available in 26 markets across North America and Europe.
Corus Entertainment posted its financial results for the first fiscal quarter of 2016. Consolidated revenues for the three months ended November 30, 2015 were $228.3 million, up one percent from $227.1 million last year. Consolidated segment profit was $95.9 million, up three percent from $93.3 million last year.
Net income attributable to shareholders for the quarter was $41.3 million ($0.47 per share basic and diluted), as compared to $51.9 million ($0.60 per share basic and diluted) last year. Net income attributable to shareholders for the first quarter of fiscal 2016 includes business acquisition, integration and restructuring costs of $2.4 million ($0.03 per share), and excludes amortization of Pay Television assets reclassified as assets held for disposal of $1.4 million ($0.01 per share). Adjusting for the impact of these items results in an adjusted net income attributable to shareholders of $42.5 million ($0.49 per share basic) in the quarter.
The news follows yesterday’s announcement that Corus Entertainment has entered into an agreement to buy Shaw Media from Shaw Communications Inc.
