Comcast announces that David Clark will join the company as executive vice president and general manager of advanced advertising. Clark will report to President of Advertising Marcien Jenckes and will oversee the advertising technology businesses at Comcast Cable, including Strata and FreeWheel.
“David is a dynamic and innovative leader with broad experience in television, advertising, and digital media, making him uniquely suited for this new position,” Jenckes comments. “The advanced advertising industry is evolving rapidly and David will play a critical role in helping our advertising customers maximize the value of inventory and audience reach with technology across all screens and sales channels.”
Clark joins Comcast from The Weather Channel (TWC), where he served as president for five years. During that time, he managed programming, strategy, and operations and led the company to earn prestigious awards, including The Governors Award for Excellence from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Prior to TWC, Clark served as an executive vice president at The Madison Square Garden Company, where he implemented sales and partnership strategies across MSG brands and served as general manager of Fuse, MSG’s music channel. He got his start in media and advertising sales at Viacom/MTV Networks, where he led the company’s Global Marketing Partnerships group, an integrated advertising sales team that worked across Viacom’s businesses worldwide.
Altice N.V. says Nicolas Petit has joined its management team as Altice Group chief marketing officer in charge of B2C and B2B commercial and marketing activities. Petit will lead Altice’s global marketing strategy, will coordinate B2C and B2B commercial activities and manage the commercial launches of the new Altice brand.
Petit joins Altice from Microsoft Corporation where he lately held the position of general manager of global marketing and operations. He previously held several leadership positions with Microsoft France, notably as chief operating officer and chief marketing officer, and has been a key contributor to Microsoft’s fast-paced digital transformation towards cloud and devices. Petit started his career in management consulting with Arthur D. Little, specializing in the field of telecom, media, and internet industries.
CenturyLink indicates that upon closing of its Level 3 acquisition, Jeff Storey, currently president and CEO of Level 3 Communications, will join CenturyLink as its president and chief operating officer. As previously announced, after the closing Glen F. Post III will remain CEO of CenturyLink. It is expected that Storey will succeed Post as CEO of CenturyLink effective Jan. 1, 2019 and that Post will then become executive chairman of the company’s board of directors.

The two companies continue to expect to close the transaction by Sept. 30, 2017.
Charter Communications is launching its Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program, a philanthropic initiative designed to support nonprofit organizations that educate community members on the benefits of broadband and how to use it to improve their lives. The objective of the Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program is to provide digital education in the communities Charter serves through financial grants, PSAs, workshops, and webinars to local nonprofit organizations.
“In an increasingly technology-driven world, the importance of digital education and access to adequate digital resources cannot be overstated,” Charter’s VP of Corporate Social Responsibility Rahman Khan comments. “The Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program allows Charter to partner with community organizations across the country to help bridge the divide and provide communities in need with the tools to grow and prosper in the digital age.”
Spectrum Digital Education grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations that have programs focused on families and seniors who have historically been underrepresented in broadband services. To be eligible for a grant, the organization must serve communities located in a Spectrum market and must be a U.S. nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. There is no cap on the number of grants awarded, however absent special circumstances grant awards will not exceed $50,000. The grants are one-year nonrenewable awards.
Spectrum Digital Education Grant Program applications and program details will be available on responsibility.spectrum.com/digitaledgrant beginning June 15, 2017. Applications will be available for download and accepted starting June 30, 2017. The entry period opens on June 30, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. (EDT) and closes on August 11, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT). Grant recipients will be notified by October 2017.
