Eutelsat Communications announced a distribution agreement between its Eutelsat Broadband subsidiary and Ooredoo, a communications company in Qatar, to deliver an enhanced VSAT service for businesses called “VSAT Internet”. The new service will be based on the KA-SAT satellite dedicated to broadband services. Ooredoo’s “VSAT Internet” will deliver a reliable and competitively-priced solution that compares to terrestrial broadband, with download speeds up to 22 Mbps and upload speeds up to 6 Mbps. Through this service, Ooredoo aims to deliver communications support for a wide range of applications such as point-of-sale transactions, data processing, reservation systems and high-speed Internet access, ensuring business continuity.
Siklu Inc. and Las Vegas, Nevada based Broavada Communications, LLC, a subsidiary of the national technology consulting firm, The Broadband Group, have announced a partnership to accelerate the deployment of millimeter wave Gigabit wireless networks. Working together, Siklu and Broavada will seek out and select communities and multifamily properties that might benefit from Hybrid Fiber Wireless (HFW) Gigabit networks as a fast and economical way to bring Gigabit connectivity everywhere.
TVT announced the launch of its media management platform ContentSelect. The software, developed by the TVT team, is a complete orchestration toolset that delivers transmission-ready content for linear TV and video on demand (VOD). The cloud-based platform manages media operations and workflows and ensures content is edited, packaged and delivered to the correct specifications. The platform has modules for program sales, channel and VOD preparation, including quality control, compliance viewing and editing, coordination with language vendors, metadata creation and association, promo production, stills capture, transcodes and deliveries.
With standards-based Carrier Ethernet 2.0-based networks getting increasingly faster, the MEF today announced that Huawei’s 400G router and OTN equipment has achieved 100G CE2.0 certification – supporting the future of high-speed interconnects in the Internet and in the Cloud. Previously, the upper limit for MEF CE 2.0 certifications was 10Gbps. MEF, the defining body for Carrier Ethernet, is a global industry alliance comprising of more than 220 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable MSOs, network equipment/software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations.
Thomson Video Networks has named Stephan Richard vice president, strategy and business development. Based in San Francisco, California, Richard is responsible for managing and developing the company’s OTT partnerships and alliances in North, Central, and South America. Richard joined Thomson Video Networks from Sling Media, an Echostar company, where he served as director of product management. He also held the position of product manager and sales engineer at Modulus Video and worked in various engineering, sales, and marketing capacities for Kasenna (now Espial), a VOD and middleware company.
