Harmonic announced that NASA TV UHD, the first consumer Ultra HD (UHD) channel in North America, is now available. Leveraging an end-to-end UHD delivery system from Harmonic, NASA’s ambient video channel provides consumers with a wide array of out-of-this-world linear 2160p60 video content, capturing the breathtaking beauty of the space program. Transmitted in the clear via the SES AMC-18C satellite, NASA TV UHD is remotely produced by Harmonic and jointly operated with NASA. Harmonic is currently in discussions with pay-TV operators to carry the channel on their satellite DTH, cable and optical networks.
Comcast Business announced an extension of its advanced fiber network to the Modesto Business Park, located northwest of the intersection of McHenry Avenue and Pelandale Avenue. The extension is designed to help improve productivity and enhance business performance for the growing base of small businesses and organizations in the Modesto community that require more capacity to meet their connectivity needs. Comcast installed more than four miles of fiber, both underground and aerial, to the business community.
Intelsat S.A. announced that Intelsat 29e, the first of the Intelsat EpicNG high throughput satellites, is scheduled to launch on January 27, 2016, aboard an Arianespace Ariane 5 ECA launch vehicle from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana. Manufactured by Boeing, Intelsat’s EpicNG satellites operate in both C-and Ku-band, and are fully interoperable with the entire Intelsat satellite fleet.
WDLabs is utilizing its WD My Cloud OS3 device in conjunction with the IBM Internet of Things (IoT) Foundation and the ARM mbed IoT Device Platform to provide developers a flexible platform to support advanced analytics and data application services. At the ARM TechCon conference (booth #910) in Santa Clara, CA, WDLabs will be demonstrating a proof-of-concept on how the WD My Cloud OS 3 SDK provides an ideal platform for developing applications at the edge. In addition, IoT sensor data may be stored and analyzed when integrated with the ARM mbed IoT Device Platform and IBM IoT Foundation.
