IneoQuest and SIGOS inked an agreement to develop what they’re calling “the industry’s first network-based multi-screen streaming video quality testing tools.” The solution combines IneoQuest’s IQ Dialogue software with the SIGOS SITE Test Systems remote test units (LU). It can be used to conduct active testing and evaluation of ABR video streams in all major streaming formats, including HLS, HDS, MSS and DASH – and across any video-capable access network technology, including 3G, LTE, LAN, DSL and WiFi.
Norwegian-based cable operator Canal Digital selected Technetix to supply a range of its access network RF Passive devices to support its ongoing HFC network upgrade. Offering a range of 1.2 GHz passives for distribution of RF signals, the Technetix products are designed to meet the needs of DOCSIS 3.1.
Smart home system installations nearly doubled last year as millions of early adopters purchased devices that were cloud connected, according to a recently published report by ON World. The research says that this growth is coming from multiple channels, and increasingly through bundled offerings by IP security, cable operators and telecom service providers. “Our demographic research shows that Millennials want smarter homes for safety and security and baby boomers want to use it for elderly care and home energy management,” Mareca Hatler, ON World’s research director, notes.
A new report, “Global Set-Top Box Market: High Demand for Hybrid Set-Top Boxes and Ongoing Upgrade Cycles for Feature-Rich Devices Drive Growth and Innovation” is offering analysis of the last couple years’ set-top environment as well as worldwide predictions for cable, IPTV, satellite, and digital terrestrial transmission boxes. “Overall, the market saw a high demand for hybrid boxes as the growing interest in over-the-top services prompted a rollout of competitive business models to prevent churn-prone customers from switching to pure OTT models,” the report says.
