SES Techcom Services and SOLARKIOSK AG announced that they have entered into a two-year partnership to deliver connectivity to communities worldwide. Under the agreement, SOLARKIOSK will use satellite connectivity to provide Internet access to underserved areas, initially in Africa. This will be done via SOLARKIOSK’s E-HUBB structures – designed by the Berlin-based architecture firm Graft – which use solar technology to provide electricity to all systems, including the satellite dish.

GCT Semiconductor announced that its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) GDM7243Q chip featuring 4X4 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology powers Huawei’s 4X4 MIMO B5328 LTE home modem for Jilin Mobile, a subsidiary of China Mobile. The B5328 LTE home modem (LTE CPE), recently announced by Huawei, will be first used on Jilin Mobile’s new 4X4 MIMO TDD LTE network and is the industry’s first commercial indoor LTE home modem supporting 4X4 MIMO LTE-A.
