Teleste will supply DOCSIS 3.1 network technology-based network cable network products to DNA Ltd.’s network upgrade project in Southern Finland. DNA is Finland’s largest cable operator and the leading pay TV provider in both cable and terrestrial networks, and it also provides telecommunications services to a group of subscribers totaling more than 3.7 million mobile communications and fixed network customers.
The upgrade involves a cable network service region in Southern Finland that touches nearly 1,500 network sites.
Teleste’s network services will include network design and documentation for the upgrade, and the company also will take part in field installations. Products used in the project include the company’s AC3010 and AC3210 amplifiers that were released this spring. In addition, solutions used will reportedly include those from the ACE and HDO product families as well as passive devices.
Ruckus Wireless launched two new wireless access points (APs) and upgraded management software that reportedly double WiFi client density and data rates over previous generations, while improving the wireless experience for retail, hospitality, education, enterprise and service provider customers.
The new APs are based on the 802.11ac Wave 2 standard featuring multiple user-multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO) technology, which can simultaneously transmit multiple client streams to different devices on the same RF channel.
The Ruckus ZoneFlex T710 access point is an outdoor version of the Wave 2 R710 AP delivering multi-gigabit WiFi performance. It includes four dual-band antennas—utilizing BeamFlex+ adaptive antenna technology—along with interfaces for Ethernet and fiber backhaul, plus built-in GPS.
The Ruckus ZoneFlex R510 access point is a Wave 2 version of what Ruckus says is its most popular indoor AP (R500). The company reports the R510 is a competitively priced AP for mid-market customers, featuring two dual-band antennas (also utilizing BeamFlex+ technology) that combine MU-MIMO to service more devices. “Unlike competing products that require expensive switch upgrades to accommodate higher power requirements, the R510 can work with existing 802.3af-capable Ethernet switches,” the company says in a press release.
