Acorn TV on Tuesday announced a major international expansion, with the British-focused streaming service now available in 30 additional countries.
Acorn TV is part of RLJ Entertainment, which became a privately-owned subsidy of AMC Networks in November.
The streaming service, which features English-language British mysteries and dramas, as well as international programming, first launched in the U.S. and Canada in 2011.
In June, Acorn TV experienced growth outside of North America, expanding to 12 Latin American countries on Roku players. In the U.S., access to Acorn TV is also integrated into Comcast’s Xfinity set-top boxes.
Now users in countries including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India and Spain can access Acorn TV via apps on Apple TV, Android, iPhone, iPads, and Roku streaming players.
The service is available for $5 per month and both English and Spanish subtitles are available.
“Acorn TV is doing phenomenally well in North America, so we’re thrilled to continue to take the Acorn TV experience globally with 30 new countries,” Matthew Graham, SVP and GM for RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn TV, said in a statement. “We are excited for global fans of British and international drama and mystery to discover the wonders of Acorn TV with addictive series featuring stellar acting, beautiful settings, and gripping storylines.”
