• Report: 15 million set-top boxes with MoCA by 2014

Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) will be supported in 15 million next generation set-top boxes by 2014, according to a study by ABI Research.
MoCA is competing with other home networking technologies, including HomePNA, Powerline and Wi-Fi.
“Currently the choice of networking technology is largely specific to particular operators, obscuring any broad trends, North America aside,” said industry analyst Michael Inouye “In general, though, MoCA seems to be gaining traction in North America–HomePNA has had success as well on the telco side–while Wi-Fi and Powerline have seen more success in Europe.”
Considering that the North American market is already establishing support for each respective technology, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America are seen as new opportunities, according to the report
• Enablence gets follow-on order

Enablence Technologies said it will Grupo Cable Sula’s network to provide services for the operator’s small and medium business (SMB) customers.
Grupo Cable Sula, the second-largest cable operator in Honduras, will deploy the vendor’s Trident7 Universal Access Platform, optical line terminal, optical networking terminals and the Element Management Suite. Grupo Cable Sula is already a customer of Enablence’s Trident7 Compact OLT (COLT).
Under the name FiberLink Pymes, Grupo Cable Sula is rolling out Internet at speeds of up to 10 Mbps, two dedicated phone lines, optional analog or digital TV service and a corporate data link at speeds of up to 100 Mbps for SMBs. Cable Sula plans to serve more than 5,000 business customers over the next two to three years on this fiber-to-the-business network.
• Motorola adds WiMAX gateway

Motorola’s Home & Networks Mobility business has announced its WiMAX ASN 1000 gateway, which it says lowers the initial cost of deploying a smaller network or one in low teledensity areas. It also unveiled a lower-priced indoor desktop CPEi 090 device. These new WiMAX solutions will be featured at Motorola’s stand (Hall 8, 8B53) during Mobile World Congress 2010.
