• Kabel Deutschland goes with NDS for digital TV platform

Kabel Deutschland (KDG), Germany’s largest cable network operator and biggest triple play provider, said it has selected NDS to enhance its digital TV platform.
NDS’ technologies will enable KDG to introduce new services for the development of its digital TV business. The NDS end-to-end platform for KDG will support both standard and high-definition digital TV services.
KDG operates cable networks in 13 German states and supplies its television and triple play services to approximately 9 million connected households in Germany. Over the next few weeks, KDG will start implementing the NDS technologies.
“For the development of our digital TV operations and the introduction of new entertainment services, we selected a technology provider that delivers an advanced end-to-end solution, including future-looking enabling technologies. NDS’ technology portfolio and expertise fulfils our long list of requirements,” said KDG CTO Lorenz Glatz.
• IEEE sets deadline for conference papers

The IEEE Communications Society has set a deadline of June 1 for technical papers to be submitted for next year’s Seventh Annual IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC) in Las Vegas.
All industry professionals interested in presenting at IEEE CCNC 2010 are urged to visit www.ieee-ccnc.org/2010 for more conference information and detailed submission guidelines.
The upcoming conference, which is held concurrently with the International Consumer Electronics Show Jan 9-12, will include a peer reviewed program of technical and special sessions, short papers, workshops, business application panels, tutorials, and demonstrations.

• Integra offers broadband for SMBs

Integra Telecom says it is offering a new Broadband Internet service aimed at small and medium businesses (SMB). The facilities-based, integrated communications provider said its SMB services combine the bandwidth potential of Integra’s metropolitan fiber networks with two phone-grade copper lines to deliver download speeds of 5-, 15- and 25 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 2 Mbps within most of the markets the company serves.
Depending on the location, Integra’s Broadband Internet service is available from download speeds of 5 Mbps to 25 Mbps at $49.95 and $89.95, respectively.
