• Time Warner Cable issues debt offering

Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second-largest cable operator, announced today that it has started an underwritten public offering of one series of debt securities with a 30-year maturity time span.
Time Warner Cable said the proceeds from the debt offering securities were slated to be used to repay a portion of the amounts outstanding under the company’s existing bank credit facilities.
The debt securities will be issued by TWC and guaranteed by its subsidiaries, TW NY Cable Holding Inc. and Time Warner Entertainment Company.
• Juniper names EVP for global alliances

Juniper Networks has hired a ranking executive from Microsoft to take charge of the company’s global alliances.
Gerri Elliott was the Microsoft corporate vice president leading the software vendor’s Worldwide Public Sector organization. Juniper has appointed her executive vice president of strategic alliances.
Juniper CEO Kevin Johnson said: “Our focus on strategic partnerships that include collaborative innovation and aligned go-to-markets is an important element of our growth agenda. Gerri’s deep experience with customers, partners and global relationships position her well to drive impactful strategic alliances for Juniper. She will be a tremendous asset to our executive team.”
• Harmonic deploys HFC solutions with German op

Harmonic announced that M-net Telekommunikations, a broadband service provider in Germany, has deployed its hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) solutions for the operator’s new Gigabit passive optical network (GPON).
M-net’s fiber-to-the-building/home (FTTB/FTTH) service offers customers digital and analog TV service, as well as high-speed data. The full range of Harmonic’s 1550 nm MaxLink optical transmitters and amplifiers was deployed as part of the M-net RF overlay project.
Harmonic’s portfolio of HFC transport solutions, deployed by cable operators around the world for fiber-deep and FTTH architectures, includes a range of 1310 and 1550 nm transmitters, amplifiers and nodes.
• Iowa Telecom to buy assets of Minn. CLEC

Iowa Telecom is set to acquire substantially all of the assets of WH Comm for $1.1 million, subject to regulatory approval. The sale is expected to close this fall.
WH Comm, a CLEC, provides voice and high-speed Internet services in several communities near Minneapolis. As of June 1, WH Comm had approximately 2,000 access lines and 700 DSL subscribers.
Iowa Telecom offers voice, Internet and network access services to business and residential customers in Iowa and Minnesota.
