* NDS Group closes Jungo deal
NDS Group has completed its earlier announced $107.5 million acquisition of Jungo Ltd.
Jungo specializes in embedded software for home neworking and IP service devices. Its CPE customers include Cisco, Pirelli, and Siemens, among others.
It had $11.4 million in revenues for the nine months ended Sept. 30, 2006.
* Stephano joins RF Magic
RF Magic Inc., a fabless semiconductor company, has appointed Angelo Stephano to the post of SVP of marketing.
Stephano has held executive and senior marketing positions with Conexant Systems, GlobespanVirata, and Rockwell Semiconductor Systems.
RF Magic said it has shipped more than 20 million chips. Its product line covers silicon for DBS receivers, digital set-top boxes and televisions.
* Nortel completes sale of UMTS unit to Alcatel-Lucent
Nortel closed the sale of assets and liabilities related to its UMTS access business to Alcatel-Lucent.
The latter agreed to pay $320 million in cash, less significant deductions and transaction related costs. Approximately 1,700 of Nortel’s UMTS access employees have transferred to Alcatel-Lucent. With the completion of this sale, Alcatel-Lucent acquired the UMTS access product portfolio, associated patents and tangible assets, as well as customer contracts from Nortel.
