* Optimum Lightpath milestone
Optimum Lightpath, the commercial services arm of Cablevision Systems Corp., said its network is now connected to 2,000 fiber-lit buildings in the New York metro area.
The milestone was reached with the “lighting” of a Mack-Cali Realty Corp. building in Woodcliff Lake, N.J.
In all, Optimum Lightpath’s network is comprised of more than 2,500 route miles of fiber.

LONDON (MarketWatch) — Knology Inc. (knol) said it has agreed to buy broadband company PrairieWave Communications for $255 million.
Knology said it expects the all-cash transaction to close in the second quarter of 2007. PrairieWave serves around 57,000 residential customers and 7,200 business customers, mainly in South Dakota.
* Allot hires Costello
Allot Communications, a company that specializes in deep packet inspection technologies, has hired Vin Costello as VP and general manager-The Americas.
In that role, Costello will head up the company’s business growth and development activities in North America, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
Costello began his career at NYNEX, and later joined Corvis, which later became Broadwing (now part of Level 3). He replaces Larry Schmidt, who has left the company to pursue other interests, the company said.
