* Charter taps Stackhouse
Cable vet Joseph Stackhouse has been appointed senior vice president of customer operations for Charter Communications.

Stackhouse, who joins Charter officially on Jan. 22, will oversee the MSO’s customer care and technical operations teams. He will report to Charter COO Michael Lovett.

Stackhouse most recently served as SVP for Comcast’s Chicago region. Before that, he was SVP of the Denver region for AT&T Broadband (now part of Comcast). He launched his cable career at Tele-Communications Inc.

* Skarica joins Lindsay Broadband
Christopher Skarica has been named vice president, engineering at Lindsay Broadband, a maker of last mile RF and wireless distribution products for the delivery of video, voice and data services.

Skarica most recently served as VP of global technical sales support for Broadbus Technologies, a VOD vendor recently acquired by Motorola Inc. Before that, he was the chief technology advisor for Nortel’s global cable/MSO solutions team. He has also held engineering management slots at operators such as Rogers Cable, Maclean-Hunter and Cogeco Cable.

* Brightcove raises $59.5M
Brightcove just closed a funding round that attracted $59.5 million from old and new investors. Brightcove plans to use the money to accelerate international expansion and for other uses.

The company helps content owners launch “channels” on the Internet, including The New York Times Co., which is both a customer and a recent investor, and Transcomos Investments & Business Development, a wholly-owned subsidiary of transcomos inc., which will help Brightcove expand in Japan.

Other Brightcove partners include AOL, TiVo, British Sky Broadcasting (Sky), Discovery Communications, Dow Jones & Co., MTV Networks, Reuters, Sony BMG, Time Life, Warner Music Group, and Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive.
