* TVC hires Soto to cover Caribbean, Latin America
TVC Communications LLC has hired Raul Soto to the post of VP and GM, Caribbean & Latin America.
Soto, who is based out of TVC’s Miami office, has previously held sales and management spots for the CALA region with Communication Broadband and ADC.
Soto replaces (and now reports to) Steve Quinn, TVC’s senior vice president, international.
* JDSU monitors remotely
JDSU has launched a rack-mounted device designed to test and monitor FTTx networks remotely.
The company’s OTU-8000 is based on its MTS/T-BERD 8000. A single OTU-8000 can test hundreds of fiber links within a “large” (40,000 km2) area and report faults relative to the nearest physical landmark, the company said.
* Amino, InfoValue, offering MPEG-4 streaming video
Amino Communications is teaming with InfoValue Computing Inc. to deliver MPEG-4 streaming video to enterprise users, telco subscribers, and hotel guests. The two have worked together to make sure that InfoValue’s H.264 (MPEG-4, Part 10) video streaming solutions, called InfoValue SuiteTV and BizTV, can be delivered on Amino’s AmiNET124 set-top boxes.
