* Ascent Media offers worldwide video distribution

Ascent Media and The Chicago Switch have completed a high-capacity, bi-directional fiber link between the latter’s switch and the former’s Minneapolis uplink facility, enabling them to offer the ability to distribute video throughout the world. Ascent Media said it has already begun services via the new link with unnamed network programmers and local affiliates.
* Synacor names Mallett to board of directors

Synacor announced today that Jeffrey Mallett was elected to its board of directors. Mallet, a former president and chief operating officer for Yahoo!, currently serves as a director and chairman of the board for Snocap Inc.
“Jeff’s experience and expertise will be of great value to Synacor management,” said Synacor President and CEO Ron Frankel, in a statement. “I am thrilled to have him join our board of directors.”
