* Verizon hiring FiOS customer support staff
Citing significant growth in deployment and demand for its fiber-based Internet and TV services, Verizon said it is looking to hire about 320 more employees for its Fiber Solutions Centers (FSCs) in Dallas; Hampton, Va.; Oxnard, Calif.; Providence, R.I.; Syracuse, N.Y.; and Everett, Wash. * Linksys names VP/GM of consumer business organization
Cisco Systems’ Linksys division appointed Greg Memo as vice president and general manager of its consumer business organization.
Memo will oversee worldwide Linksys product development, product marketing and engineering for its line of consumer-based products including routers, switches, storage, cameras, networked entertainment, gateways, modems and other products targeting the home.
Memo was most recently senior vice president of products, marketing and Web for Gateway Computer, and prior to that, held positions at eMachines, Alta Vista, Compaq, Arima Computer USA, and Apple Computer.
